Interactive data visualizations, out of the box

Intuitive Dashboard Builder

Choose governed fields, place the right visual, and publish a complete dashboard without starting from a blank canvas.

Three things a charting library will not do for you

It inherits your theme, not ours

Fonts, colours, radius, spacing, empty states, locale and currency symbols. Set once, applied to every chart.

It is already scoped to one tenant

The chart does not filter data after fetching it. Row-level and column-level rules resolve before the query runs.

Your users can build the next one

Drag and drop, SQL, or plain English. You are not the bottleneck for chart number 41.

If you are here comparing charting libraries, read this first

A charting library draws the chart. That is maybe 20% of the work. The rest is the query layer, tenant scoping, caching, theming, drill-down state and the export nobody scoped. If you are building customer-facing analytics, the library choice is the easy decision.

Enterprise security, without handing anyone a copy of your data

Multi-tenancy, row-level security and access control are built in, so your team never writes or maintains custom security logic.
Multi-tenancy and row-level security

You build one dashboard. Each tenant sees only their own rows and columns, filtered by the tenant identifier you already use, before any SQL runs.

Access control

Viewer, editor or admin, set per user or per tenant. The role travels with the guest token, so the embed can never show more than it allows.

Security and compliance

You focus on shipping. We handle the audits, certifications and paperwork.

Frequently asked

What is embedded data visualization?

Embedded data visualization means interactive charts and dashboards that render inside another software product, so users read and explore their data without leaving the app or opening a separate BI tool. In a SaaS product, each customer sees charts built on their own data, in your product’s design. Databrain provides this as web components that query your warehouse live, scope each session to the signed-in customer’s tenant and inherit your theme, with drill-down, cross-filtering and optional exports.

What chart types does Databrain support?

Databrain covers the chart types customer-facing dashboards need: bar, stacked bar and combo bar-line charts, line, area and time series, pie and doughnut, scatter and bubble, funnel, Sankey and waterfall, gauges and progress bars, single value KPI cards, tables and pivot tables, tree maps, heatmaps, box plots, histograms, bullet, Gantt, network charts and maps. Charts are configured in the builder rather than coded, and you can limit which types end users may pick.

How is Databrain different from a charting library like Highcharts or Chart.js?

A charting library draws a chart from data you have already fetched; Databrain also handles everything around the chart. It queries your warehouse, scopes queries to each customer’s tenant, caches results, renders drill-down and cross-filtering, applies your theme and handles exports. With a library, your team builds and maintains that query, security and caching layer itself. A library suits one internal chart; Databrain suits dashboards your customers use on their own data.

Can users drill down and cross-filter embedded charts?

Yes. Drill-down is configured per metric in Databrain and works automatically in embedded dashboards with no extra code: users click a data point to move to the next level of detail and use breadcrumbs to step back. Cross-filtering lets a click on one chart filter the rest of the dashboard. Drilled queries keep the tenant and row-level rules from the guest token, so a customer cannot drill into another customer’s data.

Can end users export charts and data?

Yes. Databrain embeds support CSV download, emailed CSV, PNG images of a chart and a PDF of all metrics at once. Each option is a component attribute, so you choose which ones appear per embed, and the guest token can allow or block downloads per customer. You can also stop users downloading data when no filters are applied.

Are Databrain’s embedded charts real-time?

Databrain charts query your warehouse live rather than a copy, so they show what your warehouse holds when the query runs. Results are then cached to keep dashboards fast and reduce load on your warehouse: the cache lifetime is set per workspace, defaults to 24 hours, and can point at your own Redis. For data that changes by the minute, set a shorter cache lifetime on that workspace.

Do Databrain’s embedded charts work on mobile?

Yes, in mobile browsers. Databrain’s dbn-dashboard and dbn-metric components take width and height settings and respond to your page’s CSS, so you size them for small screens the same way you size the rest of your app. Databrain does not offer native iOS or Android SDKs today.
